Welcome to the South Carolina Legislative Black Caucus. We thank you wholeheartedly for your continued support of our efforts. We greet old friends and make new ones, and this year will be no exception. The SC Legislative Black Caucus remains very aware of the massive responsibility that rests on our shoulders. We remain steadfast in our fight for better education, healthcare, jobs, housing, environment, and a fairer tax system, and of course, our constant quest to be treated with dignity and respect. Inequality is still present in South Carolina, and racism remains at the root of many of these problems. However, we in South Carolina need never lose focus of our responsibility as a people to “get our house in order.”
As members of the Caucus, we continue to work to that end. The 2013-2015 Caucus consists of thirty-seven (37) members of the South Carolina General Assembly (10 in the Senate and 27 in the House). We are still faced with a disadvantaged population of all ages, religions and races. The men and women of the Caucus continue to utilize all available resources in their efforts to improve the quality of life for all South Carolinians.
Thank you,Rep. Harold Mitchell, Chairman
