Voter ID Bill debate

Today on the SC House floor, Voter ID is up for debate. There are several issues under consideration.

1. Voters must produce approved photo identification in order to vote.

2. Absentee ballot requests can only be made by qualified electors and not by an authorized representative. Ex. A nursing home resident, person in the hospital, college students studying away, and etc., would have to call themselves to request ballot. A family member could not assist with the request.

3. Absentee voting can only be via paper ballot and will not be allowed on electronic machines.

(Please see the newsletter for the complete Bill.)

What is your thought on this and what affect would it have on the citizens of SC?
